When the sun shines in Mykonos Island, it really shines. The azure water sparkles, the blue and white buildings come to life and everybody smiles that little bit more. But when you visit a Luxury hotel in Mykonos and it rains, it will take something very special to take away the blues. As the first few drops came down, we pulled into the car park at Mykonos Petasos beach hotel & spa and toured the grounds from beneath a hotel provided golf umbrella.

Although hardly a downpour, it seemed wise to see some rooms at this stage, so we took shelter in one of the Superior rooms of the Petasos beach hotel & spa. We opened the door to be greeted by a blend of whites, creams and beiges. The bed seemed to be suspended on an ethereal platform of white light while on it multi-colored striped pillows sat atop artistically turned down sheets. An oversized minimalist style picture of the sea and beach hung on the wall behind the bed, while the rest of the room was occupied by several modern and very comfortable looking sofas and chairs.

As we took in the details of the room; unusual banana-shaped rocking chairs that were begging to be tried, the light curtains with a shimmering blue bottom half just like a seascape, you just couldn’t help feeling brighter and happier – despite the rain outside. Maybe it was the coloring, maybe the clever use of both up lights and tall standard lamps, or just the fresh and clean aroma that the room seemed to have that did this, we don’t know. However, when we pulled back those curtains and flung open the double windows the rain had stopped, the sun shone through and continued to do so for the rest of the day.

The Mykonos Petasos beach hotel & Spa is somewhere you would gladly spend time. The rooms as already described are wonderful, from the entry-level, garden view Classic Rooms to the beautiful, sea view Deluxe Room complete with Spa room and Jacuzzi, the grounds are neat and well kept and even the lobby is comfortable and large enough to lose yourself in with a good book should the mood take you. Mykonos Petasos beach hotel & spa really is that welcoming.

Moving on through the Petasos beach hotel & spa, you pass the massive infinity pool on the sundeck, which has a small waterfall at one end, leading into a smaller pool on a slightly lower level. As the Petasos beach hotel & spa is built on its own little peninsula, most places on the sundeck offer a great view out to sea or back to the beaches. Speaking of which, staying at the Petasos beach hotel & spa gives you great access to two of the finest beaches on Mykonos island too.

The Odyssey restaurant shares a similar view, enjoyed by guests partaking in the contents of the Greek and Mediterranean menu served there. The stone walls and floor, wicker chairs and immaculate white table cloths make the Odyssey charming and intimate. Thanks to the overall size of Mykonos Petasos beach hotel & spa, it manages to squeeze in a variety of other pool and interior bars, each serving various cocktails and other drinks. On a Friday and Saturday, the Odyssey is host to a themed Mykonian night, complete with a special menu and some authentic Greek dancing!
